Big Jet Plane - Take me away

Samstag, 22. Juni 2013

I adore this song. I found it a while ago, maybe a couple of years. Most of the time I don´t think about it. But I don´t think that it´s a coincidence that I listen to this song randomly every time when I´m sad. It´s really calming and it makes you truly think about your problems. I guess there are a few interpretations about this song out there. Here is mine:

The song is about a boy who is in love with a girl. (Haha okay most of the songs are about love :D ). This girl has a pretty bad life, doesn´t have a lot of money, doesn´t succeed a lot, not exactly a good life. But this girl has a dream. She wants to go out and see the world. She just wants to jump onto a plane and travel to a place, wherever this might be. She is picturing everything besides her old boring life at home. Well and there is this boy, who is deeply in love with her. He wants to show her all the places and wants to take her out. He treasures her like a princess if only he could have her. He would never let her go. And I think this is one of the best and sweetest things a boy could do. Just treat the girl you love like it´s the best thing that ever happened to you, take her for a ride on the Big Jet Plane.

Icy Spicy!

Donnerstag, 20. Juni 2013

Today, well yesterday to be honest called for a #throwbackthursday!!
I´m a person who loves to think about the past or about memories. People tell me I basically live in the past haha. Well that´s not really true as I´m always trying to plan my future but oh well..

This picture was taken in January 2013. For a couple of weeks we had this huge Icetime in Germany. I don´t even know when we had the last time so much ice!! It wasn´t that we had a load of snow (although we had more than last year), but it was just icy for a long time! A part of me liked it, as it absolutely looks beautiful, but the other part despises it, because I´m getting super fast super cold. That is caused by my messed up temperature feeling since Texas, but this winter it was really really cold in Germany. To be honest, this year the weather has gone crazy completely!! We had winter till probably april or may (I still wore a hat to school at the end of may, others didn´t though), here and there we had loads of raining, maybe a few sunny days, but thats it. Than finally, in June, just a couple days earlier it began to get really really hot!! So hot that we got out of school!! yaaayy for me  (:
But right now, when I look outside the window it´s storming!! Everything is floating on the streets, in northern parts of Germany they are even wearing rain boots!! Crazy crazy life.
I seriously don´t know whats up with the weather these days, but whatever, it is what it is.

Even though it´s gonna be sunny the next few weeks, I love to look at the picture!! Especially refreshing after a hot day! (:

Best Lunch!!

This is one of my favourites this summer!! It is super easy to make, really freshening and just delicious!
And this is all you need:
- Fruits (Most of the time I choose 3 different types of fruits, like banana, apple, mango or blueberry)
- Sunflower seed
- Amaranth
- Flax seed
- Soy flakes
- Chocolate drops (For the ones with a sweet tooth (: )
- Ewe´s milk yoghurt

(All the seeds, flakes or the yoghurt you can replace with whatever you like! Just look in your refridgerator or in your cupboard and I hope you will find plenty of things!! This is just the way I love it, as it´s more varied.)

That´s how you do it:
- Cut all the fruits however you want them. As you are eating with the eyes, it´s nice to have the fruits different sizes or different forms. I just like to do it, feel free to.
-Add all the seeds and flakes.
- Mix it up.
- Add you yoghurt.
- Mix it up again.
- Add your chocolate drops or sprinklerinos!!

Basically, you can add the ingredients however you want!! I don´t think it really matters that´s just the way I do it!! I don´t know what I would do this summer without this amazing food!! So easy (:
God bless the kitchen!!

Summertime Happiness

Donnerstag, 13. Juni 2013

That's a random picture I took today. I was on my way home from the bus and the sun just seemed so beautiful and I just could not do anything besides taking this snapshot! (: I really like the colors, because they are so light and fit so well together, It´s finally feeling like summer time!! (: Time to get out! :D

Oldies but Goldies!

Today I did a bit of shopping in town! The last few weeks I worked a lot, so I thought I should do something good for myself again.

I found these three bargains at Thalia! Best Of Charlie Chaplin, The Sound of Music and Breakfast at Tiffany´s! I really have a weakness for old movies, well movies in general. I heard a lot about them, but unfortunately I never got the chance to watch them, so I just could not resist when I found all of them available at Thalia!
They are all three true classics. Charlie Chaplin basically invented movies (or at least the silent ones) Sound of Music is a classic in the U.S. (it actually takes place in Austria) and well Breakfast at Tiffany´s .. everyone has at least heard of this movie! It might fit more into the more "older" generation, but it does not mean that Audrey Hepburn is not a fabulous woman!
The next free day I´ll have, I will definitely turn into an Oldies Day! I'm already looking forward to it! (:

Watching this, you can get an idea of his work:

This is the trailer of Sound Of Music!! I seriously love the nature, it´s part of where I grew up!!!

And finally, the trailer to Audrey Hepburns probably biggest movie Breakfast at Tiffanys!!!

Throwback Roadtrip! Part 1 - San Francisco

Dienstag, 4. Juni 2013

Summer of 2011 my family and I decided to make a round trip with the camper by the West of America.
The adventurous journey begins with a flight from Frankfurt to San Francisco with the A380. This is my first time on this airplane. I personally think it's not as great as it was touted to us. Sure, it's huge and it can fit an incredible number of people.. but it also has drawbacks! For example, you get your food or other service will be received twice as long as usual because even more people sit in the aircraft. Sometimes the food even runs out! You also have to wait a long time for getting out, which is especially annoying when you sit far back. Well all in all, the 12-hour flight passed by at some point too!

San Francisco is a wonderful city. The roads are amazing (I highly recommend the Lombard Street)! Because the city is a little bit on the hill, all the roads are very steep! Not necessarily great as a driver, but all the funnier as a passenger (;

A very important tip to all the San Francisco visitors: Don´t go somewhere without a sweater!! The weather looks good maybe, the sun will shine with a lot of luck, but this is deceptive! Please please do not forget to bring a warm jacket! Almost every time it´s super cold because of the wind! Don´t underestimate it. A jacket will be your best friend in this city.

In San Francisco, there is plenty to do! Here are some of the most famous places which you should have seen while you are visiting:

Golden Gate Bridge - The classic for San Francisco. (In the first picture to see). A huge bridge and really can not be overlooked. As a background, it is an insane building and even if you stand in front of it you will be amazed how big it is in reality! Although I have to say it´s not exactly the definition of beauty in it´s design and it is incredibly cold, especially when driving with an open roof , but it is still one of the most interesting buildings I have ever seen.

Sea lions at Pier 39 - Between January and July, you can see sea lions lounging on the pier 39th. By now, it already turned into a tourist attraction! It is so funny watching them as they roll, lying on their stomachs or make all sorts of nonsense. But be careful that you do not plan your visit too late in the year, otherwise you can only see a few of them or none at all!

Lombard Street - a little street with its red-brick pavement and lovingly tended flowerbeds. It wasn’t always so bent; before the automobile it lunged straight down the hill. A road, reminiscent of serpentine sfrom the Alps. Totally fun to run down there or to just walk, but beware that your car is not too long!

So these are at least a few of my favorite places. The easiest system to see all of the sightseeing stops, just take the  hop on hop off buss which stops at every second street!
But San Francisco lends itself fabulous for shopping as well either at the city center or when you are looking for a few bargains, the best deals you will make in the outlets, which are a little bit out of the city. If you have trouble finding more or detailed information, just ask in the tourist center where usually also be available many flyers. Or just mail me haha.

All in all, this city is really fantastic, one of the best places in the world! Who has the chance to go, they should definitely do it!

Just a small PS: who wants to relax should definitely go to the Golden Gate Park, a fantastic view of the city!

Are you coming with me?

Montag, 3. Juni 2013

Sometimes, the things we are planning don´t turn out to be something really great. Some things are just happening spontaneously. It is not important to be able to anticipate all accurate detail.

But what is important: Take things as they come. What happens, happens. Just go with the flow. At the end you can not do anything anyway so just  enjoy it to do something one time in your life that you previously did not know. It gives you a feeling of freedom and lightness.

To be or not to be, that is the question. Can you find yourself if you dictate how you have to run your life like? You can't find the real you like that right? I do not think so. The only how to really find out who you are is, when you get to know the corners of the round ball. Because that is what makes the man as he behaves in unusual situations. It builds character and strengthens the soul.

I do not know if I believe in fate. I shudder at the thought of it, that everything should be pre-determined. Then you could just no longer intervene in the process and everything was already settled. I do not think that's the case.

Because the person is an individual and no one can read their thoughts. So how will you determine beforehand how a person in a certain situation (possibly under stress) behaves? You can not foresee, at least not in this world.
Isn´t it strange to think that the decision of one human being could change the world? I think that's crazy! But somehow reassuring. All people on earth are identical, have the same rights. And each one of them has the ability to achieve something great.

This picture is currently my lock screen. I like this quote very much because it´s just full of spontaneity! And that's what I want. I simply want to go out into the world without a plan and see where life leads me.

Celebrating birthdays means to grow up!!

The older I got, the less my birthdays meant something to me. Sure, it's nice when others think of you... But all this hoopla around it, is not so my thing. For example, the thing with the gifts. Although I find it super nice when others give me something, but at the same time I also think that it would not have been necessary. When I want really something, then I save it for it. And then I can afford it by myself .. but if you will always be gifted by others and they do everything for you, then you forget that you have to fight for your own dreams and that they can´t transfer to any other.
I guess I was just raised to be independent. But I like it like that! :)

To celebrate birthdays, means to grow up. Well in itself it´s quite logical, because with each passing year, a birthday is added. But I do not refer to the obvious, but more what you learn from celebrating your birthday. When we were little, most of us have organized a fun children's birthday party. Everything was colorful and we got lots of gifts. I had my last real Slumber Party when I turned 13. I think that was the last time that I had my birthday with a bigger celebration. Most of my birthdays I spend outside of my home, three in the U.S. (there were also my last two) and a couple in Salzburg, Austria. It´s just that I don´t really care about turning older each year. It just happens.. not that I did anything great to it. Actually you should celebrate your mom on your birthday because it´s due to her (and of course your dad)  that you saw the light of this world!
Don´t get me wrong, I do enjoy growing up very much and everything that comes along with it, like getting a job, etc. But I just wish I had more time! I feel like every day is passing by so quickly, like time would not matter anymore.

I miss those days where I actually did not want to take a nap at noon and they seemed to never end!  I had a really lovely childhood. I was just a crazy kid running around, a silly joker. But yeah.. I used to be so careless haha, I miss it!
But that´s just the circle of life. We´ll be growing up. With each birthday passing by. Whether we like it or not.

Home is where your heart is.

Sonntag, 2. Juni 2013

After I got back to Germany I missed my life in Texas so much, so I decided I will go and visit during my two weeks fall vacation. My best friend from Texas made that sign for me, when she picked me up at the airport! It was super sweet and I was really happy to see her again! It made me realize that I´m always welcomed in her house, which is a nice thing to know that if you don´t know where to go, there´ll always be a place you can go to.

I personally don´t call just one place my "home". I'm home where I am at the moment. It can be a hotel, it can be with friends, it can be with my family, it may be on a ship, everywhere. The people with whom I'm traveling, play a major role.

When I was little we moved often and I was also a year as an exchange student in America. There was always something new to which you have to adapt. Therefore, it is easier to carry around your home with yourself, than to be constantly looking for a place where you feel at home. It might chance over the year that I´ll feel differently about it, but I can only try to explain my current setting. I often say I'm somewhere in between Texas and Germany, in the middle of the ocean. This is simply easier.

The second aspect I  associate it with, is the brand "Home is where your heart is.". It was founded by Moritz Hippich in 2009. The brand produces mostly clothes (T-shirts, sweaters, cardigans, etc.), but also bags. In addition, the brand combines the passion for music, because they frequently give concerts in which several bands are playing together and just have a good time, they want to send a message.
Unfortunately I have never been to a concert, but I like what they are trying to achieve and that they believe in their dreams.

Mona Lisa modern style

Samstag, 1. Juni 2013

I took this picture in a hotel in Colombia. I first started laughing. I thought it was hilarious. Because I thought of it as a parody at first. Who would think of putting a cigaret or joint into the mouth of the well known Mona Lisa?
But once you start really looking at it, you will think deeper into it. This picture symbolizes creativness for me. It´s extraordinarry, as it it so captivating.

It´s kind of ironic that a country like Colombia presents such a picture.

Colombia is seen worldwide still as one of the countries with the highest crime rate. However, the security has been increased enormously.
The drug trade, especially coca and marijuana is a tradition and one of the most profitable business in the country. This is due to the favorable geographical occurrences of cultivation.
Unfortunately, due to lack of prospects of many farmers and rural people who can hardly be due to cheaper food imports still feed, many are literally forced into these machinations, where much money can be earned.
Over half of the world's cocaine still comes from Colombia and is therefore, albeit illegally, a large part of the economy.

I am not an advocate of drugs and I can only advice not to get into it.
Nevertheless, I found this fascinating, as the artist absorbs a critical of society problem incorporates it into existing art. It´s fantastic recreationI find it really creative.
