Movieplaylist April

Don´t tell me, show me.

It´s time for a new movielist isn´t it?
I sure as hell think so.

1. American Gangster
The title pretty much says it all. Whenever it says 'based on a true story' you instantly got my attention. And so it was with this movie. I started out of pure curiosity, but it was fast replaced by loving Denzel Washingtons acting! He is so amazing, I was truly stunned. Other than that, I would say it was a good movie. It did remind me a bit of a documentary, but it has some thrilling parts in it. I just love being able to see how the USA used to be back in the days and I think it really did help that the real Frank Lucas was present on the set.

2. The Lives Of Others
This movie is absolutely stunning! Go see it, right now. If you want to know how the DDR was, watch this movie. It´s beyond touching and rightfully earned an Oscar. It´s made in Germany and shot on a pretty low budget, but beautiful nonetheless. The way the Stasi operated is so frighting and incredible the same time. I´ll never understand how it worked, but thinking about the system itself makes me sick. This movie is considered one of the 'must-have-seen' nowadays. Just incredible.

3. The Intouchables
Or 'pretty much best friends' as it´s titled in Germany. Again a movie which is based on a true story (and a french movie if that may help you to watch it (; ). When it came out in 2011, it was like a wave. Everybody has seen this movie! My parents absolutely love it as well. It´s a topic that sometimes is not as present as it should be and means a lot to me personally. I love how their friendship blossoms throughout the movie.

4. 50/50
I watched this movie ages ago in America... but I stumbled across it yet again.
I just love Joseph Gorden-Levitt and Seth Rogen together, they´re the best. It may appear a bit as a stereotypical disease movie at the beginning, but I believe it has it´s own twist to it. I like how it´s not overall serious and still has some punch lines here and there. It´s a movie that makes you cry and laugh at the same time. And I think that´s an important thing to carry away that even in the darkest times there is still a small space to smile.

5. Grown Ups
To be honest, since 'Just Go With It' I have a bit of a soft spot for Adam Sandler and I´ve watched quite a bit of his movies afterwards. He just seems like this normal layed back dude who happens to know how to make grand jokes. I enjoy watching his movies. Although I have to say I didn´t like Grown Ups 2 as much as the first one, hence it being on here. It´s not some intellectual drama or anything, but if you want to have a chilled evening with lots to laugh about, I´d recommend this movie.

6. The Lincoln Lawyer
This movie made me have a gigantic crush on Matthew Mc Conaughey. You can say a lot about him, but you can´t say he´s not pretty damn good acting in this movie. He is so convincing, it´s unbelievable. I don´t even have words for this movie, but it´s so captivating, just freaking watch it if you haven´t!

7. Two Night Stands
It´s a chick flick, but I´m secretly loving it! The idea itself is not bad. The ending is a bit to smooth, but I mean it´s a romantic comedy, so it was kind of what you would expect. I loved the leading actors though, they were pretty realistic. Well Miles Teller is not the most handsome guy I´ve seen in my life, but he´s attractive. He just got that one thing about him, I can´t seem to put my finger on. To me he seems kind of like a new age actor, like he´s starting a new era or something. There´s something big coming for him (at least I´m feeling it?).

8. Iron Man
Oh how I love Robert Downey. He´s just so fast witted and subtle. As you may or may not know, I love action movies and in this case it´s no exception. I love the concept and idea behind it and how (maybe a bit cliché) the 'bad' guy turns into a good guy.  I did not like the following 2 movies as much as the first one, but they are not bad either. I´m not a massive fan of comics, but this movie is seriously entertaining! Tony Stark is the best!!

9. 50 First Dates
I never got to watch the full movie until recently. And I have to say I was utterly surprised by it!
First of all, either I have forgotten or completely ignored the fact that Adam Sandler is part of the cast otherwise I would have watched it way sooner. I don´t know what it is about this guy, but his humor always gets me. He´s just funny. I mean yeah, the story is quite easy knitted, but you know what: that doesn´t bother me in the slightest. It´s a simple but great movie and definitely one to watch again.

10. The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button
As well, a surprise. I saw this movie without any background information and I have to say, I liked it that way. It´s a very interesting story and well thought by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I absolutely love Brad Pitt in it, such an amazing performance! Very different to his usual mainly confident characters, but so believable. He has done a great job. And the mask was stunning!! It was so real, it scared me a bit. It´s incredible what they can do nowadays (more likely 2008).

So this is it! Hope you enjoy it? Maybe these are some movies you have seen or haven´t seen yet, but are dying to. Let me know in the comments below (:
